Project Overview
The project involved a complete redesign and development of the website for Disco Boat Party, a nightlife experience that combines a disco party with a scenic cruise along the River Thames in London. These events typically feature DJs, a bar, and dancing while sailing past some of London’s most iconic landmarks illuminated at night.
My role in the project covered the entire digital process — from UX/UI design and visual concept to development, implementation, and deployment.
The Challenge
The previous version of the website looked outdated and did not reflect the vibrant and energetic atmosphere of the event itself.
Key issues included:
an old-fashioned visual design that reduced the perceived quality of the experience,
a low-quality hero video that loaded slowly and did not showcase the event effectively,
limited storytelling around the Thames cruise route and the landmarks visible during the trip,
a lack of engaging visual elements that could immerse visitors in the experience.
The goal was to transform the site into a modern, visually engaging platform that captures the excitement of a nightlife cruise in the heart of London.
UX/UI & Visual Design
The redesign focused heavily on user experience and immersive storytelling.
The new homepage immediately introduces visitors to the atmosphere of the event through a high-quality hero video showing the River Thames at night, creating a strong emotional impact as soon as users land on the page.
The design emphasizes:
bold nightlife-inspired visual styling,
clear call-to-action for booking tickets,
improved information hierarchy,
responsive layouts optimized for mobile users.
The result is a clean and modern interface that better represents the premium entertainment experience offered by the event.
Interactive Thames Route Map
One of the most distinctive features of the project was the creation of an interactive map of the River Thames route.
This section allows visitors to explore the journey the boat takes through central London while discovering the landmarks visible during the cruise.
Key features include:
a custom interactive map showing the boat’s route along the Thames,
SVG icons designed for each landmark,
informative highlights for notable locations visible during the trip,
a visually engaging way for users to understand the experience before booking.
The map transforms what could have been a simple itinerary into an interactive storytelling element, connecting the party experience with London’s historic riverfront.
Development & Implementation
The website was fully developed and deployed as a modern web platform with a focus on performance and usability.
Key improvements included:
optimized video loading and media delivery,
fast page load times,
responsive performance across devices,
scalable and maintainable frontend architecture.
The new platform provides a smooth, engaging browsing experience, aligning the digital presence with the energy and quality of the real-world event.
